For universities recruiting international students
Your international marketing and admissions arm. Built on your rules, in the markets your students come from.
Most universities market well at home and hand the rest of the world to consultants who also represent many competing institutions. We work as your stretched arm abroad: we build your brand in source markets, run a consultant network that follows your rules, and staff a small admissions desk that talks to students and parents directly.
The map moved in one intake. Families are asking questions your consultants cannot answer.
Student flows that held for a decade have shifted inside a single admissions cycle. US visa pauses, a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions announced in 2025 (blocked by a federal court since June 2026) and a proposed cap on student stays (blocked on 14 September 2026) have made Indian families question the US. Canada and Australia capped numbers. The UK is shortening its Graduate route to 18 months from January 2027. Germany, Ireland and Dubai are growing because they look affordable and predictable.
When the rules change this quickly, the student's first source of truth is usually a consultant working to a commission. The universities that win the next intake are the ones that speak directly, with dated facts, before the consultant does.

The problem
The three-way conflict. Student, consultant, university.
Consultants are a legitimate business and most universities will keep using them. The problem is structural: the consultant's incentive is a converted admission, the university's obligation is a student who succeeds, and nobody owns the gap between what was promised and what is true.
Represents many competing universities at once. The student goes where the commission is highest, or to whichever college in the pool fits the budget, so the sale is never lost.
Build their picture of your university from the consultant's pitch: jobs, part-time work, scholarships, stay-back, sometimes promises you never made.
Applies the same rules to everyone. The student arrives, finds the rules are not what they were told, and blames the institution. The consultant says they repeated what the university said.
The consultant has moved on to the next intake. Complaints, reviews, refunds, dropouts and social media posts land on the university's brand in the student's home market.
The three way conflict
What universities tell us
Eight pain points. None of them are about ads.
Your seat is sold by commission, not fit
A consultant representing many institutions steers each student to the highest payer, and to someone else in the pool when the budget does not stretch. You compete on commission rates instead of on your programmes.
No guardrails on what is promised
There is rarely a written list of what a partner may and may not say. Guaranteed jobs, guaranteed visas and scholarships that do not exist reach families under your name.
Students blame the university
The gap between the pitch and the rules surfaces after enrolment, when the consultant is gone. Reviews, WhatsApp groups and parent forums in the home market carry the story for years.
Marketing stops at the home region
Most university marketing is excellent within a day's drive of campus and thin everywhere else. India, the Gulf, Africa and South East Asia hear about you mainly through intermediaries.
Families cannot find straight answers
Visa, work rights, total cost and recognition questions change by the month. Undated pages and old brochures lose to a consultant's confident answer, right or wrong.
You do not own the student relationship
The enquiry, the conversation and the data sit with the agent. The university sees an application, not the 30 prospects who were steered elsewhere.
Commission grows with every student
A per-student fee never gets cheaper. An owned channel does: the webinar library, alumni stories and search visibility keep producing next intake without a new invoice.
Enquiries go cold before anyone calls
Campaigns generate interest, then slow callbacks and generic follow-up lose it. Parents who wait three days for an answer ask a consultant instead.
The model
Four engines, one team. Working as part of your international office.
Brand and myth-busting in source markets
Positioning by country and programme, then a steady voice families trust: myth-busting sessions on visas, cost and work rights, dated fact pages, faculty and student video, and leadership voice on LinkedIn.
- Why this university, by market
- Myth-busting webinars with dated facts
- Faculty, alumni and student stories
A consultant network that follows your rules
We recruit and onboard consultancies with a written rulebook: approved claims, prohibited promises, partner codes, first-claim rules and regular spot checks with students. Good partners earn more referrals; repeat offenders are removed.
- Partner rulebook and approved claims register
- Tiering, partner codes and duplicate checks
- Student spot checks every month
Your own admissions desk
A small team working in the student's time zone and language: one-on-one counselling, parent calls, webinars, open days, events and testimonial capture. Every enquiry has an owner and a next step within hours, not days.
- One-on-one counselling and parent calls
- Webinars, open days and roadshows
- Response time targets agreed with admissions
Demand you own
Search and AI answer visibility for the questions families ask, Instagram campaigns built on real faces from your campus, and email that nurtures over months. The university keeps the audience, the content and the data.
- SEO and AEO for programme and country queries
- Instagram video and lead campaigns
- Email and WhatsApp nurture with consent
Guardrails
What a partner may say. And what they may not.
The single document that changes consultant behaviour. We draft it with your admissions and compliance teams, every partner signs it, and every counsellor on our desk uses the same wording.
| Topic | A partner may | A partner must never |
|---|---|---|
| Work and income | Quote the destination's published work-hour limits and link the official page. | Promise a job, a salary, or that part-time work will cover fees or living costs. |
| Visas and stay-back | Explain the current rules with the date they were last checked. | Guarantee a visa, a post-study work permit or permanent residency. |
| Scholarships and fees | Quote the published fee and scholarships listed on the university's own pages. | Invent discounts, promise scholarships not yet awarded, or collect fees outside the university's process. |
| Recognition and licensing | Use the university's written recognition statement, word for word. | Improvise answers on whether a degree is recognised at home or leads to a licence. |
| Admission | Describe entry requirements and the steps to an offer. | Guarantee admission, or say a seat is held without a university offer letter. |

Markets
Where we recruit. And who we recruit for.
We focus on the families that make up most of the international market: middle-income households comparing total cost, visa certainty and return on investment, not only the top of the market.

Leadership voice: from recruiter to advocate
Why the university's leaders need to be heard in source markets, and how to do it on LinkedIn.
Questions universities ask us. Answered plainly.
Still unsure? Ask us directly.
Do universities have to stop working with education agents?
No. Most of our university clients will keep consultants in the mix. We add a written rulebook, partner codes, onboarding and spot checks so consultants represent the university accurately, and we build a direct admissions channel next to them. The combination lowers dependence on commission and reduces the complaints that follow overpromising.
What is an outsourced international admissions team?
It is a team outside the university that runs international marketing and the first stages of admissions on the university's behalf: brand in source markets, consultant onboarding and governance, one-on-one counselling, webinars, events and nurture. The university keeps its admissions decisions, offer process and compliance. Lemniscate Growth runs this model from Hyderabad with coverage across the Gulf, Africa and North America.
How do you stop consultants from overpromising?
Every partner signs a rulebook listing approved claims and prohibited promises such as guaranteed jobs, visas or scholarships. Each partner gets a code so every student is traceable. Counsellors spot check students from each partner every month, and partners who misrepresent the university twice are removed. The same approved wording is used in webinars, emails and counselling calls.
Which universities is this model built for?
Mid-priced universities that already enrol international students, typically with international tuition between about $15,000 and $45,000 a year, in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany and Europe, Australia, Singapore and UAE branch campuses. It suits institutions that rely heavily on agents, have seen international enrolment fall, or are growing in new source markets without a local team.
Which channels do you use to reach students directly?
Search and AI answer visibility for programme, country and visa questions; Instagram video and lead campaigns built with real faculty and students; webinars and myth-busting sessions for students and parents; email and consent-based WhatsApp nurture; open days and roadshows in source cities; and alumni and student testimonials. Leadership voice on LinkedIn supports partnerships and institutional trust.
How do you measure success for a university?
By enrolled students and the stages before them: qualified enquiries, counselling calls held, applications, offers, deposits and visas, each tracked to its source, whether a consultant, a campaign or the admissions desk. We also track partner quality: complaints, misrepresentation findings and visa refusals by partner.
Can you work with a university that recruits mainly from India?
Yes, and we would also help it diversify. Our delivery team is in Hyderabad, close to Indian families and consultants, and we run campaigns across the Gulf, Africa and South Asia, where many middle-income families are now comparing destinations.
Is the $100,000 H-1B fee stopping Indian students from choosing the US?
It has changed how families talk about the US, even though a federal court vacated the fee on 8 June 2026 and it is not being collected, and it never applied to F-1 graduates changing status inside the US. The proclamation was extended to September 2027, so the question will keep coming up. Universities that publish dated, sourced answers on H-1B, OPT and duration of status, and say them in webinars and counselling calls, keep more of these families than those that leave the answer to consultants.

Tell us which programmes and intakes matter, where your students come from today, and how much of your intake runs through consultants. We will come back with a market-by-market view of where direct recruitment would pay first.
